A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST

Iโ€™m a self-taught artist whoโ€™s been filling sketchbooks since I was a kid. Art is how I understand the world around me. How I work to process its beauty and grief. Iโ€™m a full-time social worker in refugee resettlement, so many of my pieces are reflections on my experience in that work. Itโ€™s often made in gentle protest. I hope my art causes people to stop and wonder.

All my drawings are done free-hand with a simple rolling ball pen, meaning nothing is sketched ahead of time in pencil. I relish the permanency of pen and creating an image thatโ€™s not perfect. I intentionally choose not to use tools to make straight lines because I want all of my drawings to be distinctly made by human hands.
